MARRIAGE

"The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament."

- Catechism of the Catholic Church 1601

Beginning Marriage Preparation

Congratulations on your engagement!  If you are hoping to be married at one of the parishes in our pastorate, you must contact the main office at St. Thomas More at least 6 months prior to your planned wedding date to allow time for marriage preparation classes.  An initial meeting with the priest or deacon who will be assisting in marriage preparation will be set.  At the initial meeting, the plan for marriage preparation will be reviewed, dates and times for preparation will be discussed, and a wedding date can be reserved.  Wedding dates are not reserved until this initial meeting takes place.

Our Policy on Reserving a Wedding Date

  • First priority is given to registered/supporting members of the parishes in the All Saints Pastorate (and their children).
  • SDSU students should first contact the Newman Center priest.  He will offer marriage classes, assist in reserving the church, and perform the ceremony.
  • Non-parishioners desiring to reserve one of the churches in our pastorate can either receive marriage classes here or at their home parish.  If a couple is receiving marriage preparation at another parish outside the All Saints Pastorate, contact from that parish via the assisting priest or deacon must take place in order to reserve a wedding date.
  • Non-parishioners cannot reserve a wedding date more than a year before their requested date in deference to our registered parishioners.
